Reminders

Dear Parents,

Hello! We will not be learning a new bible verse this week. Instead
we will be learning about Saint Francis of Assisi.

On Friday, Father Ken will be blessing pets. It will begin at 8:00
on the school parking lots. Animals must be properly restrained and
must go home immediately following the blessing.

Please let me know if your child has allergies to animals or is
afraid of any animals that may be visiting for the blessing.

And finally ... School will dismiss at 2:00 p.m. for the Herrin
Homecoming Parade. The main road through Herrin will be closed at
2:30 p.m.

Children's Liturgy/Art Starts

Dear Parents:

We are in need of parents to help with Children's Liturgy on Sundays during 11 a.m. Mass
- this is where the children go out for about 20 minutes to hear the readings and do a
small activity. Michelle McVey has been doing this every Sunday, and we need to get her
some help. If we could get enough parents to do it even just once a month, or once
every six weeks, it would be greatly appreciated. Please give Michelle a call at 925-
0281 if you could help. She is going to make a schedule.

Also, classes for ArtStarts after school are all set to go, with the exception of
violin, which lacks enough interest at this point to pay the instructor. They need just
two more students to be able to have the class, so if your child is interested in
violin, please sign up this week. You may still sign up for other Fall classes as well.
ArtStarts forms are in the office.

Reading Homework

Dear Parents,

The children are bringing home simple stories to read for homework
tonight. Please be sure that they track each word as they read.
This will prevent them from adding extra words or omitting words.
They are excited about reading here at school!

Please be sure to return the books in your child's red folder
tomorrow so that other children can have a chance to read them.
Also, be sure to sign the reading log in the back of the red folder
so I know that your child read to you.

Just a reminder ... Father Ken would like us to wear RED uniform
shirts on Friday to celebrate the Exaltation of the Cross.

Everyone looked so nice on picture day! Enjoy the rest of your

Early Dismissal

Dear Parents,

Happy Thursday! Just a reminder that school will dismiss at 11:00
a.m. tomorrow, August 29th. Teachers have an teacher in-service in
the afternoon. Children attending Extended Care in the afternoon
should bring a lunch from home.

Also, school will not be in session on Monday, September 1st, in
observance of Labor Day. Enjoy!

Important Reminders For The Week of August 25, 2014

Important reminders for this week:

8/28 will be Spirit Shirt Day at school.

OLMC School Board Meeting will be on 8/28 at 6:00PM in the Holy Family Room.

There will be a Bingo Workers Meeting on 8/28 at 6:30PM in the Lower Gym. This
meeting is for all current bingo workers AND anyone interested in joining the OLMC
Bingo Team for this school years tuition assessment.

OLMC School will dismiss at 11:00 AM on 8/29 for a Teacher's In-Service Day.

Updated Information on School Reach Call 8/21/2014

Dear Parents,

Earlier this evening we sent a School Reach call to our families regarding an
incident that we believed to have been a tire slashing on the parking lot across
from the gym.

I am happy to announce that it was determined not to be vandalism. We were informed
after the call went out that it was simply a flat tire that had been badly damaged.

We apologize for any undue concern that this created. We want our families to
realize that we care passionately about the safety of our students and staff and we
did not intend to cause undue alarm.

Thank you for your calls of information and concern. It is wonderful to know that
we have great support from our families.
